Harireh

Harireh is an ancient city with the history of 800 years located in thenorth of Kish Island, Hormozgan Province.

Harireh is an ancient city in the south of Iran, which dates back between the late Sasanid period and the early Islamic era. The remains of this city indicate that this area included a large population. According to archaeological excavations, Harireh consists of coastal complex, noble houses, baths, mosque, glassblowing workshop and old Qanats.

• Noble house of Harireh
   

  This house considered as one of the oldest symbols of Persian Gulf houses with the architectural style of Yazd, Isfahan, and Kashan houses. There are some star-shaped tiles which are similar to the main monuments of the Ilkhanate era, like Takht-e Soleymān and Soltanieh.

• Bath of Harireh
   

  This old bath has a lot of Sahn or courtyards, with an area of 500 square meters. Different parts of this bath such as Sarbineh, Garmkhaneh, and Tone or Galkhan located on the south side and divided from a roofed corridor from the other sections. Let’s talk about what is the meaning of these words. Sarbineh was a dressing room and a place to prepare for bathing or exit bathroom; Garmkhaneh dedicated to washing and bath; Tone or Galkhan is a place for providing water and heat of the bath.

  At the northern part, next to a large rocky beach there are various lowlands and highlands, the remains of walls, wells, and water channels which amaze you. Moreover, on the east side of the bay, clumps of scallops and oysters can be seen, indicating past fishing activities, especially pearl fishing.

  Kish Island is locating in the south of Iran with a hot and humid climate. You will experience very hot and humid summer in this Island. If you want to enjoy your journey, suggest you to visit Harireh from late December until late march.
