​Taxi transportation services network in Tehran
 

Taxicabs operating fleet in the city of Tehran giving services to the citizens are divided into six main groups:
 

Note: [Tour taxis are the first and the most basic service in the country's taxi fleet in most small towns the number of taxicabs is limited and may not exceed a few hundred taxis, they operate solely as this taxi-type service and no other services would be seen by the taxis in the city]

 

Public Taxis are mostly sun yellow and green including sedan and van taxis, The logo and signs of the Taxi organization are on the door of the taxi, and all have the word “TAXI “panel on their hardtop. Meanwhile, in addition to the logo and signs on the door of the taxi, the Origin-destination and the taxi fare costs are inserted. There are determined Origin-destination stands in the city and the taxis stop in their particular Taxicab stands. The cost of taxi fares is fixed and is attached to the label of the right side windshield and exposed to the passengers. The taxis do not have the right to operate as a charter service or work off-line.

 

Taxi Calls are types of Taxis that are sun yellow color with a black line or green color with a Black plaid line and the logos and signs of the Taxi organization are on the door of the taxi with the word “Taxi Bisim“ panel on their hardtops. These taxis are equipped with a walkie-talkie and are being called by the passengers. Taxi calls often stand at certain stations in the city and people make a call through the central operator and ask for their request, subsequently, the nearest taxicab deployed in the station of origin gets the message and gives service to the passenger. The costs of taxi fares during the day and for intercity or city transportation are attached on the label of the right side windshield and exposed to the passengers and are paid based on the taximeter. To carry passenger’s luggage and bags these taxi types are allowed to install the roof rack. It should be noted that the principal task of this type of taxi is to charter. To enhance safety and convenience for ladies in Tehran taxi calls with women drivers have been provided.

 

Certain offices Taxi service are the types which are sun yellow color with a black line or green color with Black plaid line and the logos and signs of Taxi organization are on the door of the taxi by mentioning the name of the organization (The railway, terminal or airport) on their hardtop. Certain office taxis have specific destinations and are established based on a group of passengers’ demands and the taxi fare costs are paid based on the taximeter. To carry passenger’s luggage and bags these taxi types are allowed to install the roof rack.

 

The special taxi is only yellow and the logos and signs of the Taxi organization are on the door of the taxi with the word “Special taxi“ panel on their hardtop. These taxi types are considered for tourism demands, including taking the passengers to shopping centers, medical centers, hotels, entertainment, sports centers, and subway stations and they provide charter services, their origin is determined but their destination is given by the passengers. Like Taxi Calls and Certain Offices Taxi Service, the cost of taxi fares is paid based on the taximeter and is attached to the label of the windshield and exposed to the passengers.

 

Snapp and Tap30 are the most popular applications for booking a Taxi in Tehran and other major cities. They're fast, economical, easy to use, and available at any time of the day. These applications are available in Persian and English. They work with Google Maps and all the drivers have the application and the Google Maps on their mobile phones. By using these applications you don’t have to be worried about the fare prices anymore. All you have to do is to set your origin and your destination on the map and they show you the fare price and all available taxi drivers around that zone. Then you’ll send a request to the nearest taxi driver and once your request is accepted, they will send you the information of the taxi including the driver's phone number, name, family name, and the vehicle color and registration number. Vehicles working with Snapp and Tap30 are of different kinds, they could be Peugeots, Peugeot 206, Prides, etc. You can pay for your taxi online or in cash. Snapp and Tap30 applications are available for download on Google Play and App Store. 

 

You should pay cash and you can’t use a credit card. 
 

Please note that: Each van can carry 10 people and their luggage and each taxi can carry 4 people and their luggage.
