Hafttappeh & Choghazanbil Museum

One of the most impressive attractions in the city of Susa is the Hafttappeh and Choghazanbil museum. The museum is located in an area called Haft Tapeh (Seven Hills).

What initially attracted archaeologists to this place was the appearance of a brick vault in this place. This vault found during the construction of the road. Considering the earlier studies in this area, it used as a residential area in the short period. The discovery of this vault caused archaeologists to come to this place. The first exploration and excavation this area goes back to 1344. These operations lasted about 13 years to discover valuable works. Hafttappeh and Choghazanbil Museum, only objects and works that discovered from seven hills are displayed. The museum has facilities such as exhibition halls, laboratories, libraries, pottery restoration salons, restoration workshops, photographic laboratories and, etc.

• The works of this museum are:     

• Mud Writing: One of the most important works discovered on this ancient site is mud writing. There are several stone inscriptions written on the Cuneiform and Akkadian language.
• Stamps: Other well-known works found on this site are stamps that have an attractive design. These stamps are flat or cylindrical. These stamps made of rocks and mud

• Small pottery bodies: These sculptures have attractive and eye-catching designs. These small bodies have a lot of diversity. Some of these sculptures are human and some of them are animals.

• Potteries: These potteries are either simple or with attractive designs. Potteries in which no design and pattern are beige color. The potteries that designed are bright brown or dark.

• Coffins: A large number of pottery coffins discovered in this place.

• Mud busts: Perhaps one of the most valuable works found on this site are these busts. These bursts include an Elamite woman and a man and a mask of a man's face.

Susa has warm and dry weather. We advise you not to go there in the summer because the weather is so hot. In summer, the temperature of the weather is as high as 53 ° C, which can only be tolerated by the natives of this city.

As it was said, this museum is very close to the Chogha Zanbil. You can use public buses to reach this museum. You can get off at the Haft Tape Station. Walk the rest of the remaining way, which is not more than five minutes long.
