Mehdi Akhavan-Sales is one of the well-known Persian poets who wrote both Free Verse and classic Iranian poetry.
Mehdi Akhavan-Sales was born in 1929. He was from Fahraj, Yazd province, but lived in Mashhad. Because he has two brothers, their family has turned into Akhavan-Sales (triple brothers). Akhavan is an Arabic plural noun that means brothers, and the equivalent of Sales in English is triple. The pen name of Mehdi Akhavan-Sales in his poetry is M.Omid.

Mehdi Akhavan-Sales wrote both Free Verse and classic Iranian poetry. His opinion of life is clearly expressed in his poetry. One of the prominent poems of Akhavan is Winter, which talks about the oppression of society in that period. Mehdi Akhavan-Sales’s poems have a social context and sometimes depict the events of life during that time. He also wrote epic poetry and Khorasani poetry.
