Jolfa railway station ( Jolfa train station)

Jolfa railway station is located in Jolfa, a border city in East Azarbaijan province which is on the boundary with Armenia and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Jolfa railway station is one of the old ones in Iran, and it was ultimately operated by the Russian in 1916 with the Jolfa-Tabriz railway line. As a result of this railway, Russia was connected to Tabriz, Iran, through Nakhjavan and Jolfa. This line was active until the dissolution of the Soviet Union especially in freight service. There is a negotiation between Iran, Nakhchivan, and Armenia to revive this line and extend it to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Today, Jolfa railway station is only connected to Tabriz railway station through electric locomotives
